S’j was founded in 2016 by Satoshi Nakao and Jens Jörke.

Satoshi comes from Osaka in Japan, where he discovered his passion for cooking in his childhood in his father’s sushi restaurants and his mother’s crepe shops.

Jens comes from Bielefeld, where he has been maturing his commercial expertise in permanent self-employment since 1996.

Both met playing basketball in Germany, and when Jens visited Satoshi in Osaka in 2015, their enthusiasm for Japanese food culture was so great that they both formulated a common goal together: We want to spread the joy of typical Japanese food culture in Germany.

The management is composed of three persons:

Satoshi Nakao

Satoshi combines his enthusiasm for Japanese cuisine with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. As a Japanese who loves Germany, he is realizing his dream with S’j.

He is responsible for the stores – from design and equipment to recipes, food preparation and quality standards for service. Satoshi is also responsible for the staff and for importing Japanese food.

He learned the art of cooking in his family’s restaurants and gained many years of experience distributing Japanese food in Europe at a trading company. He also studied French cuisine with Angelique Chiba in Paris.

Jens Jörke

Jens lives by the saying „strength lies in tranquillity“. His serious and thorough way of working brings structure and order to the sometimes turbulent world of gastronomy.

Jens is responsible for the entire administration, payroll and financial accounting, contact with the authorities and the organization of the company.

With more than 25 years of self-employment, his professional experience is varied and comprehensive.

Daniel de Juan de los Santos

Daniel is a passionate idea generator and visionary.

His tasks at S’j include marketing and strategy.

He has more than 20 years of professional expertise as an entrepreneur in marketing and media and is a CORE FINDER

Our whole company philosophy can be reduced to two words: Smiling guests.
